Union New Jersey History

The New Jersey Historic Trust (Trust) announced today that the first edition of its annual report is now available. The New York State Historic Preservation Act (H.R. 662), created by the state legislature, establishes laws to establish a fund to preserve the state's historical and cultural heritage, in addition to the $1.5 billion in heritage tax credits that New Jersey voters approved to provide corporate and corporate tax funding. The New Hampshire State Historical Society (NHSS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving historic sites affiliated with the Department of Community Affairs, and the National Trust for Historic Places (NHTP), the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving historic sites in the United States.

Plainfield is located in the southern part of the state of New Jersey, about 30 miles north of Newark. In 1930 Fanwood had a population of 1,681, but in 1934 an examination of all private residences revealed that there was only one home for 100,000 people in the area.

When the new Fanwood Borough was founded as a township, there were about 350 people living there. Together with Honeyman (469), it covered one square mile, which stretched to the north, south, east, west and west of Middletown and parts of Union Township, and encompassed the northern part of Fan Wood Township, which stretched from one square mile to a total of about 1.5 square miles.

According to Dyer, more than 88,000 Union Army soldiers joined the Civil War in New Jersey. The state provided a total of 8,129 Marine and Marines and 23,116 soldiers served in the Potomac Army. According to Dyer (1908), about 1,500 soldiers from Middlesex County and about 2,200 from Essex County also served in the union army.

When comparable data from the states became available in 1989, the US average in the state of New Jersey cost about $1,500 per month, or a total of $4,000 per year. The contracts of the workers "associations covered more than 1.5 million workers in the USA and Canada. This represented about 10 percent of the total number of workers in all states and the District of Columbia and about 1 percent in New York.

On April 23, 1849, Somerville and Easton took over the properties of the old Elizabethtown and Somville and changed their names to Central Railroad of New Jersey. In 1867, CRRNJ applied to the New York State Legislature for a charter to establish a development company, and in 1868 applied for a $1.5 million federal grant.

After the Confederates cut off the Washington-Baltimore connections with bridge fires and the destruction of railroad lines, it became necessary for the troops to advance from New Jersey via Annapolis, and it was decided to get the support of New York and Pennsylvania Railroad to obtain subscriptions. In 1892, the Central Railroad of New Jersey, jointly owned by the Atlantic Highlands Railroad and the Long Branch Railroad, was forced to move its headquarters to Sandy Hook, from where it chose the Atlantic Highlands because of its proximity to the railroad and its connection to the Pennsylvanian Railroad. Subscriptions were purchased, hats were handed out and subscriptions were collected for the construction of a new office building on the site of the old Elizabethtown and Somville.
